Source Says: According to IGN, this deal appears to be taking place outside of THQ's formal auction process, which has seen the former gaming publishers assets split and sold of to various gaming companies.

Previous rumors had the WWE franchise being sold off to Electronic Arts and its famed EA Sports brand. According to the wrestling blog CageSideSeats, THQ owes WWE owner Vince McMahon $45 million for their existing video game agreement.

The official WWE video game Twitter account has recently tweeted that there will be a positive announcement about that video game franchise's future forthcoming. The tweet reads, "We don't have any details to share yet, but there WILL continue to be WWE Games. Stay tuned for more information and some exciting news!"
